Differences enrich our lives together. When different people and perspectives enter into dialogue, we all benefit. That is why HSB sees diversity as an opportunity and stands for the values of a humane, liberal, just and democratic society.
As an educational and research institution, HSB is a place where people from different academic disciplines, cultures and countries of origin bring their individual interests and characteristics together to learn with and from each other. External audits regularly prove that our measures are successful. For example, HSB was certified by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft as part of the audit “Vielfalt gestalten” (‘Designing Diversity’).
We also give sustainability a high priority for us in all areas.

Learn more about our research profile and current projects!
With us, research assistants in various stages of their qualification actively form and bring about change through practical research on real-life challenges and future-oriented topics. Involved in research and third-party funded projects, they make an important contribution towards the transfer of knowledge and innovation within the economy and society of the Bremen region.
If you would like to offer your expertise and curiosity to our university, there are various options available: We regularly provide fixed-term positions for research assistants in pure research as well as cooperative projects, which are often even suitable as part-time-employment. Doctoral projects are also possible in cooperation with a university.
In this context, Hochschule Bremen participates in the platform ‘GoProm – Promovieren in Niedersachsen’ (only available in german), which provides information and assistance to anyone interested in pursuing a doctorate in the Lower Saxony/Bremen region. The ‘matching tool’ assists in searching for a doctoral thesis topic and suitable supervision at a university of applied sciences and/or university.
As an educational and scientific institution, we are not just there for the personal development of our students and employees but see ourselves also as a driving force for the whole region.
For this reason, equal gender opportunities and the compatibility of career and family are given a high priority at the HSB. Flexible working hours as well as extensive opportunities for part-time work, including ‘home office’ requirements, and numerous internal service centres that are concerned with your personal issues are part of the framework conditions for a good working environment.
Hochschule Bremen regularly advertises new positions in a wide variety of fields. We are constantly on the lookout for new colleagues whose skills can actively support us – whether in technology and administration, in research and externally funded projects or as teachers either under or as professorships.
We are happy to assist you with all questions and concerns, no matter how individual they may be.
